Science and Film

Since 2017, the Global Science Film Festival bring together the general public, filmmakers, and scientists ain the cinema every year. It takes place simultaneously in Zurich, Basel, Bern, and Lugano. The festival in Zurich is organized by the Science Film Academy in collaboration with Life Science Zurich.

The festival program includes film screenings, discussions with filmmakers, scientists, and the audience, as well as the presentation of the “Walking Ibex” Film Awards. Through the festival, the Swiss Science Film Academy provides a platform where researchers and the general public can meet, network, discuss current challenges in science and society, and exchange ideas on possible solutions. The festival covers a wide range of scientific topics.
