Each year, the Faculty of Science organises the Nationaler Zukunftstag, an interesting and interactive program for children of UZH employees. Children in the 5th to 7th grade can take part in various workshops on the campus Irchel and also in the Zoological Museum.
In 2001, the project was first launched as “Nationaler Tochtertag” as part of the nationwide educational Lehrstellenprojekt 16+. The date for the Nationaler Zukunftstag is fixed to the 2nd Thursday in November yearly. All over Switzerland, hundreds of companies, organisations and institutions for higher education invite girls and boys to join their parents at work. As the UZH, many of these organisations are offering a special program for the kids.
Today, teenagers have numerous choices for choosing a profession. But still they tend to avoid fields that they think are attracted mainly by the opposite sex. As much talent is being lost here, changing sides at the Nationaler Zukunftstag could help girls and boys realising how diverse the professional choices for their future actually might be.
